DailyQuickie: Farmer’s Market
Where: Santa Monica
When: Wednesday, Oct 26
What: Wednesday’s Farmer’s Market is known as the “chef’s market” because that’s the day that the local chefs come out (not their sous chef) looking for inspiration to create some fantastic special that evening. They tend not to buy all of their produce at the market because they don’t want to schlepp it back to their restaurants, but they do show up on Wednesdays to buy that one special thing. Plus, I think they like the social interaction with other chefs, farmers, and fans (since LA is becoming such a foodie town, there are lots of chef-f’ers). I show up to the Wednesday market because, ok, yes, I am a foodie and I love to see which chefs are out walking around. But I am also there because it’s the biggest and best local market, it’s a great hump day mid-afternoon break, and I can stock up on ingredients to last the rest of the week (I LOVE to cook). I do a quickie stroll through the market to knock off a few musts from my lists:
-Social interaction with other foodies
-Organic produce buying
-Mental break High-res
